FAQs - I-9 Identity Verification
What is an I-9 Form?
All U.S. employers must properly complete Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the United States. Both citizens and noncitizens must complete this form for employment in the United States. Both employees and employers (or authorized representatives of the employer – which can be a notary) must complete the form.
What are the steps involved in I-9 Verification Process
Your employees will provide your I9 form to take to a notary who will act as the companies authorized representative.
Some companies will provide a link to perform an electronic online I9 form. **You MUST be in front of a notary, in person, when they complete your electronic I9 form.
You will complete section 1 of the I9 form and provide proper id to the notary who will complete section 2 as an authorized representative.
What are the main steps of this process?
Once you have the document, you can forward the document right to TN Notary & Professional Services by email. If it comes with a Password please make sure to include it in your Order.
We will then process the Background Check. Our Washington, DC colleague will hand carry the document(s) to the Department of State Office of Authentications.
Once completed, the document will be shipped to you at the address provided on the Order Form.
